These skills are dying in our wider community.<\/p>\n<p>You cannot find these skills in most western countries and in countries such as Indonesia where these skills of working with wood, stone and other natural materials still exist today, they are also under pressure. <\/p>\n<p>As an artisan it is difficult to feed your family and educate your future generations. Younger generations are not so eager to learn these skills that are unique and entwined in the country's history and religion.<\/p>\n<p>The attraction of other forms of work such as driving or working on a cruise ship are strong. Today it is not so easy to encourage young people to continue with the crafts when income is not assured.<\/p>\n<p>With our marketplace for artisans we hope to provide a light for artisans. A way to preserve their treasured crafts and skills. A pathway that can support their families through the unique skills and creativity they possess.<\/p>\n<p>In a world that has become obsessed with things artificial and consumerism, unique works of creativity may again rise to the surface and become recognised for their inherent value.<\/p>\n<p>We ask you to support our artisans. They work with passion, creativity and love to produce unique items that will endure for a lifetime. <\/p>\n<p>When you buy a work from an artisan you honor them with your purchase. They become your friend for life. We offer these items at a fair trade price which is not negotiable - it takes many weeks of long hours to produce an item.
